My name is Angelica, co-founder of Soulfull Veda and holistic healer. I am excited to share my journey with Ayurveda and how Soulfull Veda came about to you today!
When I first heard of Ayurveda, I was living in LA and had just finished teaching a yoga class at my studio. One of the instructors was informing me on her Ayurvedic Cleanse, and I was instantly intrigued. I knew Ayurveda was the sister science to yoga and had always been interested in learning more. This spring cleanse was the first of many where I started to understand my own body from my best teacher, my Self.
Fast forward to a couple years later, I was still experiencing digestive issues and was not receiving my period. I went to an internist and she diagnosed me with IBS (an ambigious term for digestive issues) and insisted I ask my gynecologist to treat my amenorrhea. However, I knew what my gynecologist was gong to recommend, birth control. My conscious was telling me that there was a connection between my IBS and lack of period. My conscious was telling me that a mind, body, spirit examination existed and can explain all the symptoms I was experiencing.
It was that year that I decided to empower and educate myself on holistic health and enroll in the California College of Ayurveda's Ayurvedic Health Counselor program. I am still on my journey to heal my body, but I am so proud of how far I have come. I have received my period again, and my IBS symptoms have subsided immensely. I still experience periods of stress where my IBS flares up. I still experience seasonal depression and have to constantly work on a positive mindset. But I finally have tools, love and support from this beautiful science. Ayurveda is my calling. My healing path has led me to Ayurveda so I can educate and empower others to heal themselves.
While in my Counselor Internship, I had the honor of working with my best student, Rachel Jeffries. She was the first client that truly empowered me as a counselor. Her eyes lit up with passion when we talked about Ayurveda as a science, and she came floating into her consultations because she was successfully healing herself. It was her story that reassured me that Ayurveda is my dharma, life's work.
Fast forward to a year later, Rachel told me she had a dream of starting a retreat with Yoga and Ayurveda and was going to make it happen (she is a pitta afterall!). It was a no brainer to partner up with her and the success of our first day treat inspired much beyond. We sat together noshing on raw cacao fudge, and our eyes lit up with the creation of SoulFull Veda.
Soulfull Veda is created to educate and empower others to heal themselves through Ayurveda and other holistic modalities. We hope to give you the tools so you can take control of your body, mind and spirit. You are your best teacher, and don't you forget about it!
